GOD MEANT IT FOR GOOD: Why I Love the Book of Genesis (Tucker)

Lads to Leaders - SYG

This year, we have been studying Genesis, and I have learned several things from this great book.  I learned that God created the heavens and the earth.  The book is also filled with many great stories.

The story of Adam and Eve is very interesting. We learned that God created all of humanity from one couple in the Garden of Eden. They were told not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but they did, tempted by the devil.

The Garden of Eden was a perfect paradise. Adam named all the animals. It was filled with plants and trees for them to enjoy. There were oceans, birds, fish, and many other wonderful things.

Adam did not protect his wife from the serpent. Eve ate the fruit first and then gave it to him. God had to sacrifice an animal in the garden so that they could have clothing when they left.

The Bible tells us that God walked through the garden, and Adam and Eve hid from Him. Because they sinned by eating from the forbidden tree, they were banished from the garden forever. They blamed each other and God for their sin.

Most people are familiar with the story of Noah's Ark. He built the ark and preached for 120 years, trying to get people to repent. They refused to turn to God. So, Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives were the only ones who escaped the flood on the ark. Everyone else perished.

God promised Abraham that he would have many descendants. The Bible tells us that his son Isaac had two sons: Jacob and Esau. Jacob had twelve sons! Their stories comprise more than half of the book of Genesis.

One of my favorite stories is that of Jacob and Esau. They fought often but reconciled in the end. There is also the story of Joseph, who also fought with his brothers but eventually reconciled with them. By the end of Genesis, it appears that everyone will be okay.

One of the main reasons why Genesis is so interesting is that it introduces us to the family of Jesus. He was a descendant of Judah, a son of Jacob. Jesus performed many miracles and offered great teachings.

These and many other great stories are found in the book of Genesis. Please visit the church of Christ in your community. Thank you for reading this blog.
